Background

Gloria Hardegree retired in July 2026 after serving as the GRC Executive Director for more than 25 years. She worked tirelessly to expand access to recycling across every corner of the state, built strong lasting partnerships to further the recovery of materials and beyond traditional items, and steadfastly promoted the importance of our thriving recycling industry to Georgia’s economy.

In recognition and honor of her unwavering commitment to supporting our members, communities, education and GRC’s mission, the GRC Board of Directors established the Gloria Hardegree Scholarship Fund in June 2026. This fund will continue her incredible legacy and lifelong love of education by providing educational and professional development opportunities for local recycling coordinators across Georgia and will specifically provide funds for recipients to attend future GRC conferences and events to learn and be inspired.

“I’m honored to have a lasting legacy through this scholarship program,” commented Gloria Hardegree, former GRC Executive Director. “GRC is an exemplary state recycling organization thanks to so many dedicated, enthusiastic members and generous industry supporters throughout our 35 years of operation.  Here’s to the next 35! Thank you for the privilege of experiencing this journey with you.”
